Day 10 Check in: March Madness
Welcome to Day 10 of March Madness!
Because of the great turnout, we’re adding additional prizes this week. Denise’s agent is offering a 10-page critique and Shana, Query Queen, is offering up a query critique! And I’m adding Rachel Vincent’s MY SOUL TO SAVE to the prize pile!
So, check in and let us know how your March Madness progress is coming along!
For inspiration, I have a quote to share today. One of my favorites.
“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
– Kurt Vonnegut

I had to get up two hours early this morning to meet my writing goal. I NEVER would have done this if if weren’t for March Madness. Definitely madness. But hey, I got 1000 words down. Now I must get dressed and fly out the door. Thanks!
I wrote a little over 200 words. Not quite my goal, to say the least. But I DID get homework done!
Yesterday was slow writing day, just got chapter eight up and ready to go. TODAY is now the revise day. Great quote…and thanks for adding to the prize pile!
Three days with little progress. Sick kids, Life getting in the way yesterday, and promo stuff for Change of Heart today. Sigh. But I have a critique group pages deadline on Friday, so I will push forward Thursday and Friday.
I wrote about March Madness on my blog today: http://www.sharimaurer.com/?p=380
Even if I’m not writing everyday, it’s still propelling me forward.
I love that quote.
I am revising this month, and spent yesterday wrestling with a chapter, trying to get the language just right. I’ll be working on that same chapter tonight. There is the urge, sometimes, to move on to the next chapter — the easier chapter. But I know that I must get this chapter right first, or it will gnaw at me until I do.
Happy writing!
Wrote about 600 words yesterday, which brought me around to another 1k marker.
yesterday was productive for me. I got agent revisions done and worked out a new scene.
Today the slugging is tougher. The scene I have to write next isn’t coming that easily.
Only 600-ish words today, my lowest count yet. Sigh. I haven’t been doing too awesomely this week.
I blame the combo of a social life and continuous plot issues.
I sat down to write and, two hours later, all I had done was revision. Aack! My goal is to WRITE, and revise later. How do I stop the little writing gnome from galloping into my brain???
Angelina - what an inspiration, getting up 2 hours early!
As for me, today was hard work. First, I did the big no-no of starting something I couldn’t finish before my writing time. That ate away at a good chunk of my time. Then I had to work on a tough scene that just wasn’t right and I couldn’t figure out why. I ended up pushing ahead, working on the next chapter and making notes about the problem chapter. Sometimes I find I have to be patient for solutions. Ah, patience. I thought I’d gotten my fill of that long ago.
Getting up at 5:30 for my “day job” is cramping my writing style! I’m so not an early morning person. I want to write long into the wee hours of the morning, but instead, I’m trying to work while helping kids with homework, putting them to bed, etc. Not going too well…. Tonight I have critiques to do for tomorrow’s writing group, but hopefully I’ll get in at least a few hundred words on my WIP before bed.
Love that quote — it feels quite fitting for my current WIP.
(Sung to Rawhide)
Writing, writing, writing, keep those fingers writing.
Writing, writing, writing,revise!
LOL, I actually did get some work done today
I had a great writing day today. Finished editing one whole chapter and added 2000 words to my 2nd draft. Now, I’m only 200 words from 10K. Tomorrow is looking really great, too!
I almost forgot to check in again. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m trainable. Still writing. Have 100 more words to go before bed.
Love the Vonnegut quote.
I wrote one partial scene today. Not great progress. Now I’m going to take my journal to bed with me and finish it!
I’ve written almost 400 words. At this rate I won’t come anywhere close to my monthly goal but I’m still happy to be plugging away at the story.
Yeah to everyone else who has continued to plot, write and/or revise!
Our power went off just after lunch today and I was so glad my laptop’s battery was fully charged so that I could still get in a couple hours work. I revised my way through another chapter this afternoon and am still on track.
The prizes are awesome but it’s reporting in here and reading how everyone else is doing that is so encouraging. I mean, getting up *two hours early*? That’s commitment! Good for you, Angelina.
I’ve been crap with checking in, buuuuuuuut I’ve already went through half of the revisions I planned and added a bunch of words in the process. Wooohoo! I have 100 pages to go.
