Challenge Week Four
Lots of progress this week! I started last Monday at 14k, and now I’m up to…30k!

SHATTER ME: YA UF
30,020 / 70,000 Words (42.88%)
I’m very happy with my progress, and I’m almost halfway through the estimated word goal. I’m also one chapter away from being halfway through my outline so that’s working out well. I also extended my bare bones outline into a much more detailed outline this week, making a virtual post-it for each plot point for the main plot and each subplot. Now I can make sure I hit everything I need to as I go along.
I’d love to get up to 40k by this time next week. If I keep up this pace, it should be no problem. But I’m in the dreaded middle zone now.
How’s everyone else doing?

Almost twice as much as I managed - only around 7500. Total now at around 38000. I am fairly certain that i will fall a bit short of the desired final total, but this is after all only the rough first draft and, if past efforts are to go on, will be expanded substantially during the rewrite.
Not as good as you! That’s incredible progress. I’m working on two books in tandem.
WIP #1: 23K
WIP #2: 3K
Andrew - Great progress. My first drafts also tend to be shorter than the goal, but then they expand during the rewrite.
Michelle - *mind boggle* I tried. I can’t work on two at once. Go you!
Awesome progress, Jen. Congratulations! I’m still not writing, but I did get 1600 words out on my synopsis yesterday, and did some prep work for querying. =o)
Synopsis writing might be the hardest kind there is. Go on query prep work! I’m rooting for you.
