Biggest YA Author Signing Ever!
This afternoon, I popped over to Books of Wonder where over 40 YA authors were signing books. It was the big event to end the week-long NYC Teen Author Festival.
I got there with a couple books I wanted signed, and the place was packed.
There were so many authors signing today that they divided the signings up into three segments. Maureen Johnson was signing during the first segment so I snaked my way through the crowd to her table to get a book signed and saw she was signing several pairs of jeans for some girls. I was amused. She is so adorable in person and very sweet. If you don’t read her blog, I suggest you go check it out!
Before the next segment started, I strolled around and picked up some books. I got Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier, Skinned by Robin Wasserman and The Season by Sarah MacLean. I was very torn. There were so many more books I wanted to pick up, but unfortunately, I couldn’t really get more than that today. Over the course of the next two segments, I got those books signed. I just have to say that all three of these writers are terrific and so friendly. I’m looking forward to reading the books by them I picked up today.
While waiting for the third segment, I saw Scott Westerfeld chatting to some teen readers, and I went up to say hello. He signed my copy of Uglies and chatted for a minute. He had a poster copy of his upcoming YA steampunk, Leviathan. It looks really cool. And he wished me good luck with submissions which was pretty awesome. If you didn’t know, I’m a huge fan of his. He’s one of my favorite authors, and I absolutely adore his writing.
I had a great time, and I’m so glad I went. I’m really hoping there’s a second NYC Teen Author Festival next year. If the crowd was any indication, it was definitely success. Books were flying off the shelves.
Yay books!
