Teaser Time

I always enjoy reading teasers on other writers’ blogs so I thought I would post a short excerpt from the second chapter of MY SO-CALLED AFTERLIFE.

The big cemetery near the college was nothing like I remembered from my trips with Abby. Before, it always felt like a hush had fallen across the entire area. Every twig that snapped sounded like a firecracker. The only movement was the wind whipping through the towering oak trees.

But the cemetery wasn’t like that anymore. Not in crazy ghost world. It practically sang with activity. All around me, I could hear voices echoing in that strange afterlife space. Laughter, teasing, crying and arguing filled my ears. Looking around, I saw people floating around in groups. They hovered over gravestones and walked along the paths. They all looked human, only not alive.

A few girls near the entrance stopped to stare as I followed Christopher. They were probably about my age. They all smiled at me like I’d just lost my dog. I realized I was grimacing, trying to hold back my fear and shock at everything going on. I was feeling a little uncomfortable, to say the least, and all I wanted to do was lay down in my comfy, and very familiar, bed. But I’d never be able to do that again. So far being dead really sucked.

Really, I love it. And it’s certainly the kind of book I’d read. Looking forward to it one day! It sounds fun and interesting. So, when, WHEN, WHEN? LOL!
