Review: Black and White
At Comic Con, I was lucky enough to snag a signed copy of the ARC for Black and White by Jackie Kessler and Caitlin Kittredge, in stores June 23. And I have to say, I loved it!
The novel follows two best friends at a superhero training academy and the years that follow when they become mortal enemies. One MC is the good guy, and one is the bad guy. But what I really love is that sometimes neither seem the good guy and sometimes neither seem the bad guy. I rooted for both characters–the hero and the villian.
The tagline on the cover is actually, “The line between superhero and supervillain has never been thinner.” You got that right, and it’s part of why I loved the book so much. Seeing the strengths and weaknesses of both characters instead of just Good versus Evil. Pretty cool.
I also really like how the book is structured. The origin stories of the characters are weaved into the present day plot so we get to see events of the past and how the characters got to be who they are. I thought it was a really interesting way of doing things. And since this is just the first in a series, I’m wondering if these flashbacks will be present in later books, too, because I really thought they added something special.
So, put this on your TBR list or pre-order it on Amazon. Superheros, fighting crime, humor and suspense! All good stuff. I thought both authors did a fantastic job, and I really can’t wait to read the next one.

When I met Jackie Kessler at a conference last year and she mentioned this book, I immediately started counting down. This concept is far too awesome to pass up, and I am uber-jealous you got a copy! I am very glad that it is as great as it sounds
