NY Comic Con Day 2
Today was a pretty great day at NY Comic Con, despite the fact it was packed and insane inside the big hall. I’ve been told today was still nothing compared to the con in California. Wow.
When we first got there, I went around collecting more books. I got Melissa Marr’s Ink Exchange, having not read it yet. I also got a Vampire Academy novel and books by Jocelyne Drake, Robin Hobb and Neil Gaiman.
Then, my agent called and we went out to lunch in the city at a fabulous restaurant. We chatted about the industry, books, Joss Whedon and art. I’ll be getting another short round of revisions in a few days, and then it’ll be submission time very soon.
After that, we popped back over to the convention center and caught a panel with Kim Harrison, Jackie Kessler, Vicki Pettersson, Tamora Pierce and Carrie Vaughn. They talked about their influences in writing, music and everyday life.
Then, I wandered around some more and stumbled on the artist for the Buffy comics! He signed a Buffy comic for me, and I’m going to keep it in a very safe place.
He was a really nice guy.
And then it was time for an ARC signing for Black and White with Jackie Kessler and Caitlin Kittredge. Can’t wait to read that book!
I went to one more panel: Tor.com. They talked about what they’re doing on the website and the future of digital publishing.
And then I was done. I was pretty exhausted, and my shoes turned out to be a bad idea for walking around all day. But just before I left, Seth Green walked by me. I did a double-take and said, “That was Seth Green!” But by the time I thought of actually saying something to him, he was long gone.
So, now I’m home and trying to rest up for another full day. Tomorrow: Dollhouse Premiere with Joss Whedon!

Oh “Black and White”! Is that the superhero-esque book they’re writing? It did sound amazing!
Might be a dumb question: when you said “collecting books,” did you mean you get to go around and get them for free?
Sounds like the universe was conspiring to make your day even more awesome than you expected. Like, you’re just wandering around Comic Con at the end of the day, thinking, “Wow, had lunch with my agent, tons of free books, etc., etc. Life can’t get any better.”
Then the universe chuckles and tosses Seth Green in your path. Gotta love its sense of humor, no? =)
Sara - I purchased a few books there: Ink Exchange and Shadow Kiss being two of them. But I also got about, oh, 15 free books throughout the course of the conference. Crazy!
Kristin - Hee hee. He’s so short!
