Week 5 of Sven
Whoops, almost got completely off-track this past week with the sudden surprise visit of a new and shiny idea. I’m still really struggling against the urge to begin writing it, but I sat down this weekend and forced myself to push through this pesky middle. I love this story, too. And I want to finish writing it.
So, what finally got the words flowing (as bad as they may be at this point) instead of being stuck agonizing over every single terrible sentence, typing and erasing them for hours upon end?
I put on my song. Your song, you ask? Yes. There seems to be one song I can keep going back to that perfectly portrays the tone of this book. Every time I listen to it, I can write. So, I played it on repeat for an hour or so and got going. I’m getting close to 50k now!

Woohoo! 50k! I downloaded the Paramore CD… very nice!
I need to find a song like that - normally I listen to a very wide variety of music while writing, ranging from sound tracks to movies (like Blade Runner and Lord of the Rings), through to bagpipe music (no instrument compares to bagpipes for me) through to rock and on into much heavier. Yes, its a bit eclectic, but thats me.
And nice work on that 50K mark. One of these days I may reach it myself.
