Bright Shiny Idea
So, I sat down tonight to do some writing on the middle of CLASH. Middles are hard. Instead of coming up with brilliant prose and writing the next scene I have mapped out, I kind of sort of fiddled around with a New!Shiny! Idea that popped into my head tonight.
Whoops.
Now, I really like this idea. I did a little searching and couldn’t find another YA with this exact concept. It’s another YA Urban Fantasy which is keeping consistent with what I’ve been writing lately. It’s the first in a series. Again. And that’s all I’m prepared to say about it other than the tentative title right now is SHATTER ME.
It’s kind of exciting, and I’ve got the new book idea love going on but I really need to finish CLASH before letting myself start on a new project. It’s tempting though. I’ve started to hear the main character’s pesky voice in my head, and I know no other way to make her stop than write down what she says.
Oh, book ideas…Can’t live with them, definitely cannot live without them.

So I’m not the only one who does that - its good to know.
Happens to me all the time. Working away and then these random unrelated ideas come sleeting in, dragging my attention away from the task at hand and demanding to be worked on.
Its why I have literally dozens of stories started (though often no more than a page of notes) yet none finished.
I’m having to force myself right now to stop starting new projects and concentrate on the one at hand so I can actually complete it.
Welcome to my world.
As much as I love coming up with new ideas (some shinier than others, ’tis true), I do wish I could turn off that part of my brain when I’m already working on something. No matter how much in love I am with whatever I’m working on, these new ideas always seem so much better.
I love how they always seem to pop up at the most inconvenient of times. Good luck with the creative multi tasking!
Awesome! I have a new idea, also, brewing in the back of my head, but I won’t let myself begin until I’ve finished my other two WiPs!
Oh those pestering new ideas…love to hate em.
SHATTER ME
ahhh continuation of the post that got posted too soon…oops…
SHATTER ME is a title that intrigues me.
hm. A whole other comment just to say that. Darn technology.
Same problem Jen! I might have to let myself write a bit of it until I get stuck and then old idea will look shinier again!
I wrote about this on 70 Days of Sweat today.
Hey Jen.
I heard Paramour on your playlist, and they sounded awesome. But I can’t find anything by them on iTunes. Suggestions?
-Jill
Sara - Thanks! First title I’ve been really happy with.
Jill - I think you have the spelling wrong. Search for Paramore. They have two albums on iTunes.
Because I haven’t posted enough comments on this thread yet: You have been bookwormed! Explanations can be found in my latest blog post: http://seesarawrite.blogspot.com/2008/12/bookwormed.html
