Write! Or Else!
So, the Twitterworld was full of news about this crazy online writing productivity tool called Write or Die.
Basically, you say how many words you want to write in how many hours or minutes. Once you click the button, you type into a window until you’re done. If you don’t, there are consequences! A gentle popup reminder is the gentlest of these consequences. Annoying sounds come next. The actual deletion of words you’ve already written is the worst! In my opinion. And apparently, Rick Astley is in there somewhere!
So, for all of you out there in the middle of NaNo or Sven but are having trouble with motivation, try this out. I’m off to give myself an hour to write 1k. I think I’m even going to go with Electric Shock Mode (I will admit to being scared).

Good luck, dude. As for me…I really don’t think I need the added pressure of “consequences”–I’m usually wound pretty tight, as it is.
You should try it. I reached 20k tonight because of it, hoorah!
How did it go? Looks like it was a success?
@jkb: Yeah, it went really well! I ended up writing over 3k yesterday because of it. I’m going to use it again today.
