70 Days Of Sweat
Instead of doing NaNoWriMo this year, I’ve signed up for the 70 Days of Sweat Writing Challenge.
It officially starts on Monday, November 10th and the commitment is to write between 60k and 100k words in the 70 days. I’m shooting for 60k words which means I’ll have to average less than 1k per day. That is totally doable.
It actually ends on January 26th, a week later than 70 days, because we’re doing this smack dab in the middle of holidays and we’ll be able to take some days off to spend time with family, friends for all the fun holiday dinners and parties.
It looks like there’s already over 100 writers signed up for this challenge, and we’ll all be rooting each other on to work hard and meet our daily word count goals. Some participants appear to be doing both Sven and NaNo this year so if you’ve already started NaNo and know that 50k words won’t finish your book, go ahead and sign up for Sven if you want to keep writing once November is over to finish up the WIP.
I’ve decided to finish up my 50 page partial (FINALLY) for TG2 this week so I can go back to writing Clash for the challenge. I’m aiming to complete the book during this time, but I’m also waiting on my revision notes for TG so I might have to pause at some point to work on those once I get them. But if I take a week off for revisions, I should be able to make up the word count on later days.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to it! If you’re looking for a challenge to kick start your WIP or finally get it finished, I suggest signing up!

That is more reachable than NaNo’s goal, but probably still out of reach for me. When I’m in the midst of a project, I do about 2.5K a week. That may seem slow, but if I finished an 80,000 word novel in about 6 months this way. Slow and steady works very well for me.
Hmm. Something to think about. I like the extra padding in there for holidays. I may mull this one over.
Do it, Kristin! You know you want to.
Tia - I like that nice, steady pace. Six months is a great first draft timeframe. I usually start out at that pace but then get over-eager and write like a madwoman, haha.
