The 2008 ALA Teens’ Top Ten
The 2008 YALSA’s Top Ten List has been posted. If you haven’t heard of this list, it’s developed each year, each previous year book nominated and voted for by teen readers. As an aspiring YA writer, I think this list is extremely important. It shows which YA books have really resonated with their core audience since, you know, they’re the ones that picked them to win.
I thought it would be cool if I’d read them all, but it looks like I’ve only read six of them. The others are now on my ever-growing TBR list. I’ve bolded the ones I’ve read, and I do recommend every single one. Terrific picks.
I can’t believe I haven’t yet read the one Westerfeld book on the list!
1. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
4. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
5. Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson
6. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
7. The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
8. Extras by Scott Westerfeld
9. Before I Die by Jenny Downham
10. Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson

Comments
It’s only a matter of time before you knock off that Westerfeld book, I imagine.
I’ll be able to cross off #6 in the next day or so.
