Odds and Ends

1. My author-agency agreement arrived in the mail today. YAY! It’s official, official now. One copy I signed is now in the mail and on its way to Fifth Avenue. I actually felt kinda funny putting it in the mailbox since it’s only going across the river, but it’s still full of yay! I should be getting my revision notes sometime next week! (I will admit to being slightly afraid that she would change her mind or this whole thing was all a figment of my imagination. So, I’m pretty happy that wasn’t the case. It’s real!)

2. I’ve decided to put a pause on writing Clash while I wait on revision notes for TG. So instead, I am going to start writing TG2 and the synopsis for it. I figure I’ll try to get at least the first 50 pages done as well as the synopsis in the next couple of weeks. I’d like it to be ready just in case my agent (hee!) needs it when she pitches it as a series.

3. Been thinking about Halloween costumes, and I’ll probably just reuse last year’s insanely expensive costume. When you go for authentic Harry Potter, it doesn’t come cheap. Authentic sweater, skirt, tie, scarf, robe and wand. I am SUCH a nerd.

4. I’m still looking for a job. I’ve had a couple of interviews, and I’m waiting for news on both. Nothing yet.

5. Today was awesome in terms of weather. It was getting pretty chilly there, and I’ve often been called a lizard because of my need for sunshine and warmth. Needless to say, I’m pretty happy about the recent wave of 75 degree weather.

6. I’ve been watching Heroes again this season. And while I have an unexplainable love for that show, it sure does have some serious problems with consistency and just making sense. *spoiler alert* Like, I thought Peter had Claire’s ability. So, when the bald, mind dude went away, why didn’t his wounds heal and he come back to life? Cause Claire can’t die. She would have come back to life. So, why didn’t he come back to life? Little things like that. It’s hard for me to ignore them yet I faithfully watch the show with love.

7. I almost didn’t post this because I feel silly. But ah well. Here’s my agency agreement signing picture!

You can never go wrong with Hermione. It’s Halloween, embrace your nerd-ness. Just make sure you take lots of pictures. :) (Okay…I apologize for that last part.)

As for Heroes…the inconsistencies can be really annoying–not to mention their constant need to throw more and more characters at us than we (or they) can possibly handle. Sometimes, I skim through Comic Book Resources weekly chat with the creators of the show, and they promised that there’d be an explanation about how Future Peter could be killed.

I’m just kind of going along for the ride at this point.

Have you read I Heart You, You Haunt Me? It’s a debut teen ghost love story. I showcased it at Fantasy Debut (see above link) back in the winter. The author is a member of the ClassOf2k8 website. I’m not sure how they organize, but if you sell for publication in 2009, you should try to join. Writing to one of the authors of this year’s class ought to get you started.

Oh, and I’ll definitely be interested in showcasing a teenage ghost story.

Here’s a link to that novel at ClassOf2k8:

Congrats to you!
About Hero, I recall once that while Claire had something (I think it was glass) in her head, she remained dead, it wasn’t until after it was removed she died.

But another odd thing, I thought in the beginning she coudln’t feelpain, then they made it out like before Sylar cut into her brain, she coudl feel pain, and now she can’t . . .

I love the scifi/fantasy shows!

Congrats on signing that puppy!

I am so happy for you!

@Tia: No, I haven’t read it, but it certainly sounds interesting! The group you mentioned also sounds great. I’ll look into it if I get this thing sold. :)
