Terrific Treats on Teaser Tuesday!

Terrific Treats: Today, I have gotten two more full requests and another partial request. Today is an insanely good day. It’s making me feel hopeful again. September, so far, has rocked. I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high because this is still a long-shot.

Teaser Tuesday: I see a lot of other writers do this on their blogs on Tuesdays. They’ll post a snippet of a completed manuscript or their current WIP. It’s new for me, but I thought I’d do it today just for fun.

So, click below for a small excerpt of Teen Ghost. I’m not sure if it makes sense out of context, but it was hard finding an exciting section that also wasn’t spoilerific. Anyway, here goes nothing.

A familiar scent filled her nostrils, and her eyes flew open in astonishment. The only place she’d ever smelled that disturbingly nauseating stench was in the secret room of Christopher’s tomb. The wispy edges of her form seemed to bristle with alarm. Something was right behind her, she knew without a doubt. It didn’t make a sound, but it didn’t have to. She sensed it. Sensed something terribly wrong.

She slowly swiveled to face her intruder, trying not to make any sudden movements for fear it would make things worse. The vacant eyes of a soulless roamer hanging limply in the air only a foot away stared straight through her.

“Oh boy,” she said aloud, her voice shaking with fear. She was only twelve inches away from getting contaminated.

Her resolve not to breach the walls of her childhood home disappeared as she stared into the face of her worst nightmare. One move toward her, and she’d be doomed. Backing up and letting her back slide into the wall, her particles dissolved into the house. When she was finally inside, she still stared at the roamer, now through plate-glassed windows surrounded by dark green curtains. It was time to take one last look at her father, whisper goodbye and bail. Such close proximity to a roamer made her too nervous to stick around.
