Edits and a Synopsis

Good news! Edits are done! I’m going through the copy one more time and polishing things up, but I’ve at least gone through the entire thing now. Whew. And these edits are making it a lot better. Strengthening relationships, delving into greater detail about backgrounds and surroundings and smoothing out major plot points and transitions.

I really charged forward with this to get it done because, I uh, already queried a few agents and got one partial and one full request. Eeep! Wanting to make sure they both got the novel in polished form, I worked really hard to finish up the edits.

This leads to….the synopsis. I have many more agents on my “To Be Queried” list and some require a synopsis with the query letter. I’ve already started working on it, but I’ve gotta tell ya. This is the hardest thing I’ve done so far. Getting all the major plot points listed and wrapping up the story in such a short amount of space seems next to impossible to me. My blog pal, B.E. Sanderson passed this link on to me, and it has some great info and advice about writing a synopsis. I’ve been reading through these. I’m hoping it helps! Anyway, that’s my next step and then more querying. Here I go!

I can’t take all the credit for the link. My CP passed it along to me when I was sweating over a synopsis last year. Even besides the synopsis info, that blog is great for all sorts of advice. =o)
