WIP Status

I like to post a quick status update of my WIP each week, if only for my later reading pleasure. I can look back on my thoughts, successes, failures and timeline of the novel.

A little over a week ago, I reached the 25% mark. I’m happy to say that I’ve written almost 10,000 words since that time. That’s a lot faster than I usually write, but I find that this novel is just rushing out of me. I can’t help but ask myself why. Why is writing this novel so much easier for me than the others? Why is it so much better? Because it is better. So much better. Is it the story? Is it that I’ve had more practice? Is it that I’ve plotted? Is it because I should have been writing young adult fantasy rather than mystery all along?

Honestly, I don’t know. All I know is that on Saturday, after I got home from the conference, I wrote 3,400 words. More than I’ve ever written in one sitting. Good words, too!

Needless to say, I’m very excited by the status of my novel right now.
