June 14 - Word Count 11,088
This was a rough night. I felt like I had to force out every single word. I think the problem was that I waited too late in the night to begin writing, and my brain is too sleepy to be creative. I did not end up making the 1,000 word count. However, the goal was to be at 11,000 tonight, and due to some better writing days, I’m still surpassing that mark.
Since it’s a mystery, it’s kind of hard to avoid my characters interacting with the police. I discovered tonight that I know little about standard police procedures. Luckily, a friend of mine has a close friend who is a cop. She’s going to relay some questions to him for me so I can get an idea of how everything works. To add some credibility.
Good news is I had a great idea today of something to incorporate into the novel. I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with this one, and I’m pretty excited about it.
