I have plans for tonight and figured I would not get any writing done after work, so I went ahead and worked on my 1,000 words for the day. I accomplished my goal, and I also mapped out a storyboard for the rest of the novel. Creating the storyboard really helped in further developing the plot. It’s a step by step layout on what happens when and who goes where and who finds what and who reacts how. It lays out where the real clues will enter into the story and when the various red herrings show up. It also details how and when the heroine discovers the real murderer. I’m very confident with what I have so far, and I’m pretty excited about the story.
I got the idea for the storyboard from Janet Evanovich: www.evanovich.com.
See her novel section and find the title “How I Write” for details. It’s been a lot of help to me so far!
I hope I can keep up the momentum over the weekend.
